The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in the Tiruvalla region has officially inaugurated the Year of the Word for September 2024 – September 2025. The inauguration was led by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mor Koorilos, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tiruvalla, who lit the Word of God candle during the ceremony. Representatives from all parishes in the region received the candle to bring to their parishes, where it will be shared with families, marking a year dedicated to deeper Scriptural engagement and reflection.
This important year aligns with the Church’s ongoing mission of evangelization and aims to strengthen the faithful’s connection to the Bible. The Year of the Word focuses on reviving the spiritual life of parish communities through the study of Scripture, prayer, and contemplation, encouraging every household to prioritise the Word of God in daily life.
Through this initiative, the Church seeks to inspire a renewal of faith and the strengthening of familial bonds rooted in the teachings of Christ. In addition to Scripture-focused activities, the Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) will play a key role in guiding the faithful to experience a more profound relationship with the Bible.
