The quarterly gathering of clergy from the Pathanamthitta Diocese, combined with a heartfelt Christmas celebration, was held on Tuesday, 10th December 2024, from 10:00 AM at the Bishop’s House, Pathanamthitta. The event brought together priests to strengthen their fellowship and reflect on the spiritual significance of the season.
A Heartfelt Address from His Grace Zacharias Mar Aprem
The highlight of the gathering was the presence of His Grace Dr. Zacharias Mar Aprem, the Metropolitan of the Adoor-Kadampanad Diocese, who delivered an inspiring Christmas message. Despite experiencing physical discomfort and fever, His Grace’s message radiated profound depth and meaning, leaving a lasting impression on all present.
One of the most striking moments of his address was his poignant observation on unity among the Malankara Churches:
“All the Churches in Malankara are like members of the same family living in different houses.”
These words, spoken from the depths of his heart, provided clarity and reassurance to many clergy, addressing lingering questions with simplicity and truth. His Grace’s open and heartfelt perspective resonated deeply, highlighting the spirit of unity and love that should define the Malankara Christian community.
Presence of Esteemed Bishops
The gathering was also graced by the participation of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Mor Irenios, the Bishop of Pathanamthitta Diocese, and His Excellency Most Rev. Yoohanon Mor Chrysostom, Bishop Emeritus of Pathanamthitta. Their presence underscored the importance of this event and provided additional spiritual guidance to the clergy.
An Acknowledgment of Gratitude
The clergy expressed their heartfelt gratitude to His Grace Zacharias Mor Aprem for his meaningful message and his courageous effort to attend and share despite his physical challenges. His message not only enriched the Christmas celebration but also offered a renewed sense of purpose and direction to the gathered clergy.
The Pathanamthitta Diocese clergy gathering was more than an administrative meeting; it was a moment of shared faith, camaraderie, and spiritual renewal, paving the way for a blessed Christmas season filled with unity and joy.
