The Synodal Commission for Health held its annual meeting on 14th December 2024 at the Catholicate Centre, Pattom, Trivandrum. Presided over by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Polycarpos, Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum and Chairman of the Synodal Commission for Health, the meeting was an important occasion to review the activities of the Commission and discuss the way forward in the realm of healthcare services and pastoral care.
In his address, His Excellency emphasised the critical role of the Church in promoting healthcare that reflects the compassion and healing touch of Christ. He urged members to continue their dedicated efforts in serving the sick, the underprivileged, and the marginalised with renewed commitment.
The administrative arrangements for the meeting were overseen by Sr. Therese S.I.C, Secretary of the Synodal Commission for Health, who highlighted the accomplishments of the past year. She presented a detailed report on the Commission’s initiatives, including healthcare camps, mental health awareness programmes, and support for those in need of critical medical care.
The session concluded with a call for greater collaboration among healthcare professionals, Church leaders, and volunteers to build a robust network that can effectively cater to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community.
This gathering reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to holistic healthcare, rooted in faith and compassion, as a vital aspect of its mission.
