Rev. Dr. Jacob Thekkeparambil, Director of St. Ephraem Ecumenical Research Institute (SEERI), Kottayam, was honoured by the “Chevalier in the Order of Academic Palms” by the French Government on 14 April 2012 at SEERI Auditorium, Kottayam. It was given in recognition to the remarkable work done by him for the research and study in Syrian language in collaboration with the famous universities of France and other scholars. This award was established by Napolean Bonappart the French Emperor, for the contributions in the educational and research field. France Varishye, the French Ambassador in India, gave the award to Rev. Dr. Jacob. Many dignitaries from religious, political and cultural fields felicitated him during the auspicious assembly.
Rev. Dr. Thekkeparambil had his priestly formation in the minor seminary, Tiruvalla and Papal Seminary Pune. He had his Doctorate from Catholic University, Paris. He is the Founder Director of St.Ephrem Eccumenical research Institute, (SEERI) Kottayam. He is well versed in Greek, French, Latin and Arab languages. Last year He was invested with the title “Malpano Rabo.”
