Promulgation of the Code of Particular Canons of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church

His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop- Catholicos promulgated the Code of Particular Canons of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.  The Promulgation ceremony was after the solemn blessing of the Holy Myron at St. Mary’s Cathedral Pattom. It is the particular law of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. The codification works started in 2005, immediately after the Church was raised to the status of a Major Archiepiscopal Church. A Group of experts headed by His Grace Thomas Mar Koorilos (Chairman) and Very Rev. Dr. John Kochuthundil (General Convenor) worked for more than six years to draft this new Code under the direction of the Holy Episcopal Synod. The Holy See gave its recognitio (recognition) to the Code, which was approved by the Holy Episcopal Synod. This Particular Code will obtain the  force of law on 27 May 2012, the Day of Pentecost.
