Mavelikara, 24th January 2024: In a serene corner of the Mavelikara Ecclesiastical District, the Punnamoodu Animation Center witnessed the convergence of faith and scholarship with the inauguration of the Jeevaram Research Library during the Ecumenical Week of Prayer. The name ‘Jeevaram’, translating to ‘Garden of Life’, was thoughtfully chosen to honor the legacy of the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios, who is revered for breathing new life into the Malankara Church.
The library’s opening was intertwined with the solemnity of the Ecumenical Week, which saw Christians across denominations join in prayer and unity. The week’s activities were imbued with the spirit of Archbishop Mar Ivanios, whose vision for a revitalized Malankara Church is mirrored in the mission of the Jeevaram Library to become a wellspring of theological and ecclesiastical knowledge.
Bethany, the birthplace of the Reunion Movement initiated by Archbishop Mar Ivanios, was lauded as the catalyst in the church’s renewal. The Jeevaram Research Library stands as a testament to this spiritual renaissance, aimed at nurturing the intellectual and spiritual quests of the faithful.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, leading the dedication, reflected on the symbolism of the library as a place where the seeds of wisdom would sprout and flourish in the ‘Garden of Life’. The new facility, expected to house extensive theological literature and historical documents, is set to become a treasured resource for clerics, researchers, and anyone wishing to delve deeper into the rich traditions of the Malankara Church.
As the prayers of the Ecumenical Week echoed through the halls, the Jeevaram Research Library was embraced by the community, marking a new chapter in the diocese’s commitment to education, unity, and the living legacy of Archbishop Mar Ivanios. The faithful departed with hearts full of hope, looking to the ‘Garden of Life’ as a beacon of inspiration and a gathering place for all seekers of truth and enlightenment.
