Vikhroli, Mumbai – 24 April 2025 The evening of 24 April 2025 was marked by prayerful joy as the Holy Family Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Vikhroli, was rededicated following its renovation. The solemn rite of blessing and thanksgiving was led by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Pachomios, Eparch of St Ephrem – Khadki – Pune, amidst the presence of clergy, religious, and laity.
The Church, established in 1989 and originally known as St. Joseph’s Malankara Catholic Church, stands as a beacon of the Syro-Malankara Catholic tradition in Mumbai, faithfully upholding the liturgical and spiritual heritage of the West Syriac Rite. Its journey from humble beginnings to a vibrant parish community reflects the steady growth of the Malankara Catholic faithful in the city.
Present for the occasion were Msgr. Shaji Vazhayil, priests from neighbouring parishes, religious sisters, and members of the Holy Family Parish community and wider Malankara community, who came together in gratitude and prayer to mark this new chapter in the life of the parish.
The renovated church, now adorned for the greater glory of God, was offered back to the Lord in a ceremony rich with the sacred liturgical traditions of our Church, drawing hearts anew into communion with Christ and His Holy Church.
The faithful of Vikhroli, strengthened by their devotion and unity, continue to bear living witness to the vision of Venerable Archbishop Mar Ivanios, whose dream of spreading the Malankara Catholic faith across India and beyond finds fulfilment in communities such as these.
