The 33rd International Youth Convention of the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) was a grand success, held at the Mar Baselios Auditorium, VPS Malankara H.S.S., Parassala, as part of the 94th Reunion Anniversary celebrations. The event was inaugurated by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, reflecting the Church’s commitment to fostering the growth and unity of the youth within the community.
Presided over by Mr. Monu Joseph, Global President of MCYM, the event drew thousands of youth from various eparchies, eager to participate in the discussions, prayers, and activities focused on spiritual growth, evangelisation, and community building. Most Rev. Vincent Samuel, Bishop of Neyyattinkara, graced the event as the chief guest, delivering an empowering message, urging the youth to embrace their faith and serve as ambassadors of Christ’s love and mission.
The 33rd MCYM International Youth Convention, which was themed “Pilgrims of Hope”, brought together thousands of young faithful. Most Rev. Vincent Samuel, Bishop of Neyyattinkara, delivered a stirring keynote address, encouraging the youth to remain steadfast in their faith and to see themselves as agents of change within the Church. The theme encouraged participants to reflect on their journey as pilgrims of hope, embodying the Church’s mission in their daily lives.
Fr. Daniel Poovannathil led a powerful session during the convention, which further deepened the spiritual experience, inspiring the youth to embrace their Christian calling and to live as witnesses to Christ in their communities and beyond.
In connection with the 94th Reunion Day, the convention aimed to remind the youth of their rich spiritual heritage, established under the visionary leadership of Archbishop Mar Ivanios OIC. The legacy of the Reunion Movement of 1930, which brought the Malankara Church into communion with Rome, continues to inspire generations of faithful to preserve and cherish their Eastern Christian traditions while participating in the Universal Catholic Church.
Hesed 2024: Unveiling the Logo
During the convention, the logo for Hesed 2024, the Global Youth Day celebration to be held on October 19-20, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla, was unveiled. Most Rev. Vincent Samuel officially launched the logo by handing it over to Mr. Cyriac, MCYM President of the Tiruvalla Archieparchy. The logo, designed and conceptualised by Mr. Cyriac, reflects the spirit of the global youth movement and the upcoming celebration that will bring together young Catholics from all over the world.
The 33rd International Youth Convention was a remarkable event, blending spiritual renewal with youthful enthusiasm, and reinforcing the Church’s mission of evangelisation and unity. The Malankara youth, filled with hope and zeal, continue to be instrumental in building a stronger, faith-filled community that reflects the Church’s rich traditions and future aspirations.
