The blessing ceremony of the newly constructed clergy home, St John Maria Viany in the Eparchy of Mavelikara, was blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos on 5th July 2016 at Kallumala, Mavelikara.
Father Jerry Mathew the newly ordained priest in USA offered his First Holy Qurbono
Reverend Jerry Mathew, who was ordained a priest on July 2, 2016 for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the US and Canada by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, offered his First Holy Mass on July 4 in his home parish in Detroit. At 9.30 am. on July 4, the new priest and His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius were received at the entrance of the Church. During the Holy Mass, His Excellency gave the homily in which he enumerated the meaning of the imageries of a priest in the New Testament, namely, the Good Shepherd, the Bread of Life and the Light of the world. After the First Holy Mass, a felicitation meeting was held. Father Jerry thanked those who assisted him on his journey to priesthood. Many priests, reverend sisters and a large number of lay faithful participated in the Holy Mass. The whole event was organized by the Syro-Malankara Catholic parish in Detroit under the leadership of Reverent Pathrose Panuvel, the Pastor.
Inauguration of St. Alphonsa Malankara Catholic Church, Carmelaram, Bangalore
The first Holy Mass and inauguration of the 4th parish in Bangalore, St. Alphonsa Malankara Catholic Church, was held on 3 July 2016 at the Snehadaan Camillian Community Centre, Carmelaram, Bangalore. The con-celebration of Holy Mass was led by Very Rev. Msgr Varghese Mattamana, Vicar General of Pune Exarchate along with Rev. Fr Varghese Kadakketh, Rev. Fr Geevarghese Kaithavana, Vicar and coordinator of Carmelaram parish and four other Malankara priests from Dharmaram.
The Holy Mass and the subsequent short meeting was attended by several seminarians, Rev. Sisters and members of all the four parishes in Bangalore. Rev. Fr Varghese Kaddaketh delivered the welcome speech and Very Rev. Msgr Varghese Mattamana delivered the inaugural address in which he spoke about the history of the Malankara Catholic Community in Bangalore and proposed measures to take this new parish forward. Rev. Fr Basil Thomas, assistant vicar of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr John Aluvalla OIC and Mr. Johnson T.M felicitated the newly established parish community.
St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Ithiyoor, was blessed
The newly constructed St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Thengarakonam, near Balaramapuram, was blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop of Syro- Malankara Catholic Church, on 3rd June 2016.
It was concelebrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Samuel Mar Irenios, the Auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum. Rt. Rev. Msgr Geevarghese Mannikarott Corepiscopo, Rev. Dr Mathew Manakarakavil Corepiscopo, Sri. M. Vincent MLA and many dignitaries from the society, Rev. Fathers and sisters were present during the function.

Father Jerry Mathew ordained priest at Syro Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont, USA
Father Jerry Mathew was ordained a priest for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius.
Present on the occasion were also His Excellency Thomas Mar Koorilos, Archbishop of Tiruvalla, His Excellency Yoohanon Mar Chysostom, Bishop of Pathanamthitta, His Excellency James Massa, the auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn.
Father Jerry Mathew is the second priest to be ordained from and for an Eastern Catholic Church of Indian origin in America, the first one being Father Michael Edathil of the same Eparchy.
Around 650 people participated in the liturgical celebration. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the US and Canada extends heartfelt congratulations and prayerful best wisher to Father Jerry Mathew.
Mar Ivanios Prayer Ministry
Mar Ivanios Prayer Ministry, an intercessory prayer service guided by the Suvisesha Sangham, was inaugurated by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, on 1 July 2016 at the Tomb of the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios, Pattom, Trivandrum.
Everyday from morning 9am to evening 5pm, intercessory prayers will be conducted at the tomb chapel led by the members of the Suvisesha Sangham.
Kunjatakkoottam Season 2 Malankara Catholic Church Sharjah, UAE
The Sharjah Malankara Catholic Community inaugurated the MCCL Vacation Bible Studies named Kunjatakkoottam on the 1st of July after the Friday Holy Mass. The inauguration was done by Rev. Fr. Mathew Kandathil. The VBS will take place over a period of 5 days from the 2nd of July to the 7th.
Mar Theophilus Cricket Premier League 2016 – Malankara Catholic Church Sharjah, UAE
Sharjah Malankara Catholic Community started the Mar Ivanios Day celebrations with the Mar Theophilus Cricket Premier League (MTCPL) cricket tournament held at Ajman on the 1st of July. The winners of the 1st edition was the team from Al Nahda & GPO prayer groups and the 1st runner up was the Nabba Buteena prayer group.
Preparations for the 63rd Feast of Commemoration of Mar Ivanios Begins
Fourteen day long prayerful preparations for the 63rd Feast of Commemoration of the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios started at the tomb chapel, Pattom, on 1 July 2016.
It began with the opening message of His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos. In the opening message His Beatitude said that “the sacred life of Mar Ivanios is a source of strength for our Church”.
At 5.30 p.m. Holy Qurbono was celebrated by His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas Mar Anthonios OIC, the Postulator of the Cause of Canonisation and the Curia Bishop.
Many Rev. Priests, Sisters and faithful participated in the opening day devotional and liturgical services.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan will be the Chief Guest at the 63rd Feast of Commemoration of the Servant of God Mar Ivanios
His Eminence Cardinal Timothy Michael Dolan the Archbishop of New York, will be the chief guest on the occasion of the 63rd Feast of Commemoration of the Servant of God Mar Ivanios at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum.
His Eminence served as the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2010 to 2013 and was granted the titular position as Cardinal-Priest of Nostra Signora di Guadalupe a Monte Mario (English: Our Lady of Guadalupe of Mount Mario) in Rome.
On February 23, 2009, His Eminence was appointed the tenth Archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, USA’s second-largest after the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, serves over 2.5 million Roman Catholics.
His Eminence previously served as Archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009, preceded by service as an Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis from 2001 to 2002.
Time Magazine named His Eminence as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” for 2012.
