The Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving consists of two prayers:

  1. The first prayer is addressed to God the Father, giving thanks for the divine gift of the Body and Blood of Christ.
  2. The second prayer is addressed to Christ, seeking His mercy at the time of His Second Coming.

The Qurbana concludes with an anticipation of Christ's Second Coming, having shared in the mysteries of His life, death, resurrection, ascension, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. It calls on the faithful to conform to Christ's likeness, so that He may live in them and they in Him.

According to tradition, the liturgy symbolically represents the entire economy of salvation:
