Proemion and Sedro, and the Prayer of Absolution

The Proemion and Sedro form the typical structure of solemn prayer in the Syrian Church, used extensively in the prayers of the Divine Office. These prayers:

• Begin with praise and thanksgiving, acknowledging the blessings God has bestowed, especially the sacrifice of His Son.
• Transition into a petition for God’s grace to be poured upon His people.

For the Qurbana, several Proemions and Sedros can be selected. The Prayer of Absolution follows, seeking forgiveness of sins for all the faithful, both the living and the departed.
